Commerce Youth Night - Time Change

All Commerce Youth wrestlers will need to be at High School Gym at 4:30 Tuesday night. We will start our Youth Night Program at 4:45 prior to the Varsity Match. Wrestling will begin at 5:30 PM. Wrestlers and coaches will be free, but there will be an admission fee into the event for fans of $3 student/$4 adult.
Tiger Wrestlers: All Commerce wrestlers will have at least one match. Please wear your black Commerce Wrestling Club t-shirts to this event.

Commerce Youth Night 2010

This is a mandatory event for all youth wrestlers!!!

Next Tuesday January 26th is Commerce Wrestling Youth Night at the Varsity Tiger’s Wrestling Match. This is where we honor our youth wrestlers for all their hard work this year. We want to have all the kids who wrestled this year come out and get recognized (including any who ended their season a little early). All kids must be at the High School Gym by 4:30 PM next Tuesday. The Varsity Tiger Wrestlers will recognize the kids individually at 4:45 PM. The varsity will start there match at 5:00 and the youth will begin wrestling at 5:15. Every kid will have a match. All wrestlers will need to wear there club t-shirts and a singlet.
We really want 100% participation, so please let me know if you will not be attending so I do not schedule a match for your child.

Thursday Jackson County Match Line up/Roster

The match is at the old Jackson County High School, located on Gordan Street in Jefferson. It is not at the high school. Match starts at 5:30, kids need to be there by 5:15 at latest. Below is a list of kids who will have matches.

WEST HALL DUAL - Tuesday, January 12th

Next Tuesday January 12th, we will have a dual match with West Hall Youth Program along with the Commerce High School Team. The match will be at West Hall High School in Oakwood. West Hall Youth is a new program with all 1st year wrestlers. Because of their limited numbers, we will only be able to take about a dozen of our kids who I could match up where they would get a couple good matches each. I need a response from these parents ASAP that your child will be able to attend. I will have room in my car to carry at least 6 kids with me if transportation is an issue for any parents just let me know. Tigers Win Jefferson New Year Classic!!!

Congratulations to all our wrestlers and coaches for bringing home the 1st place Team Trophy at Jefferson Saturday. This is a huge accomplishment for our program, hopefully the first of many. Regardless of whether you were able to participate in the tournament or not; be proud because WRESTLING IS A TEAM SPORT and every wrestler and coach contributed to this victory either at practice, on the mat Saturday, or both!!!

SCHEDULE CHANGE

No dual match this Wednesday 1/06. Also need to add East Jackson Tournament to our schedule. They will host a beginners and open tournament on Saturday January 23rd!!

Dixie Nationals

Commerce had 3 wrestlers participate in the Dixie Nationals at the World Congress Center on Monday. This is a national event with kids from across the nation participating. To win 1 or 2 matches at a national event is a huge accomplishment, but to place is exceptional. Our boys showed out, we had two 1st placers and one 3rd placer.

Results:

Chance McClure – Tournament Champion (189 lb High School division)
Nick Patrick – Tournament Champion (10 under 100 lb class)
Jake Brewer – 3rd Place (12 under 61 lb class)

Congratulations to Chance McClure, Nick Patrick, and Jake Brewer. Great Job!!

Holiday Practice Schedule

Reminder: There is no practice this week due to Christmas Holidays. At this time there is no practice scheduled for next week of December 28th. However I will be glad to hold 1 or 2 practices next week if we have enough kids (10-15) interested. So if you want to practice the week of December 28th, please let me know ASAP and I will get a practice time set up.

Commerce Dual Info - This Saturday 9 AM

LOCATION: Commerce High School; 272 Lakeview Dr; Commerce, Ga. It will be in the schools new Auxiliary Gym which is located at the top entrance to our football field. Due to construction you will need to drive up to the front office area of the high school. We will have signs directing where to go to park.

TIME: Starts at 9AM. Gym will be open by 8AM. (Recommend having wrestlers there by 8:30 at latest). My goal is to be done by 1 PM (worst case we will end at 2 PM).

ADMISSION: $2 per person (wrestlers free)

CONCESSIONS: Will be provided for entire event.

***We will run 3 mats, 1-1-1 periods. It looks like all kids will have minimum of 2 matches, with most getting 3+ matches. Please advise all parents that only coaches are allowed on mat during a match. No parents, no other wrestlers. Due to liability issues we will be strict on this. So coaches please help us monitor this. ***

Commerce Duals Saturday December 19th

Next Saturday is our dual match at Commerce. We will be wrestling kids from Jefferson, East Jackson, Banks, and Rabun County. All kids will be grouped by age/weight/experience/ability. I need to know by Monday December 15th if your child is NOT wrestling in this tournament. If he is wrestling you do not need to contact me. It is very important you let me know if he’s not participating so I do not schedule him a match.

Commerce Wrestling Picture Day

We will be doing individual and group pictures this Monday December 14th at the Commerce Elementary School Cafeteria from 4:30 til 6:00PM. See schedule below of the times your child needs to be present for their individual photo. The group photo will follow at 5:45. Be sure to wear your Commerce Singlet. If you do not have a Commerce Singlet, please contact Terri Trudnak @ TTrudnak@commerce-city.k12.ga.us . We will hand out additional info on photos Thursday night at practice.

2009-2010 T-shirt Design

This Thursday at practice, we will be taking up orders for our team T-shirts. See attached initial draft of shirt design attached.
Wrestlers & Coaches Shirts - no cost. Anyone who would like to order themselves or family members additional shirts, the cost is $10 each. We will have sample sizes on hand Thurs night. You can also email T-Shirt order to Amy Flint amylflint@windstream.net

This is a list of events we plan to have coaches attend. I recommend if you want to be 100% certain a coach will attend a tournament that you verify, before attending, that we will have a coach there. You are welcome to attend any other tournament in Georgia, see Georgia USA Tournament Schedule attached.
The events in bold are local dual matches and no registration is required. Every other event you must register online for the tournament. The “Beginner” tournaments are for first and second year wrestlers only. The “Open” tournaments are for all wrestlers regardless of experience level

NO PRACTICE MONDAY DECEMBER 7TH

Due to the commerce Elementary School Christmas Program, we will not practice monday December 7th. We will resume normal practice Thursday December 10th at 6PM.

Dual Meet Nov 23rd - Madison County

Practice Match next Monday November 23rd at Madison County Wrestling Gym – 5:45 PM!!!

Instead of practice on Monday, we will be participating in a practice match with Madison County and Banks County Wrestling Clubs. All wrestlers need to be at Madison County Wrestling Gym by 5:45 PM.

Admission is free, however there will be a “Donation Bucket” at the door to help pay for the cost of this event. This is a fund raiser for Madison County Club, so please throw in a few dollars per family to help Madison County Club pay for this event.

Concessions will be available, including Pizza!!! When you depart, please help out by picking up any trash left around you after the event.

Directions to Madison County Wrestling Gym:

-Take Hwy 98 W toward Ila and Danielsville for approx. 15 miles.
-Turn Right onto US 29 South.
-Go approx. ½ mile and you will come to downtown Danielsville “town Square”.
-Circle around the courthouse to opposite side you came in on and turn right onto US 29 South.
-Go approx 200 yards and turn left onto Griffeth Lane.
-The gym is just down this street about 100 yards. (It is located behind the Madison County Government Complex.)
